Northwich Against Business Crime - Exclusion Notice Scheme

There is an implied invitation by businesses, for members of the public to enter their premises and view or purchase the merchandise. The issue of a ban or exclusion notice withdraws that invitation to the person issued with the notice. Some businesses already operate a banning policy, but only in relation to their own premises.

The Northwich Against Business Crime scheme allows the Board of Management to issue Warning and Exclusion Notices that bar offenders from all members premises, thus restricting their access and opportunity to commit crimes in retail areas.

An Exclusion Notice remains in force until rescinded by the Board of Management or on expiry (usually 12 months after issue). Information concerning each excluded person is collated by the partnership manager and circulated to all members and relevant agencies.

Any breaches of an Exclusion Notice are also recorded; this information can subsequently be used to apply to the courts for an Anti Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) or other enforceable means of barring the person from the area.
